It's the high jump for Joanne!

Lewisham's very own Joanne Mclaughlin will be hitting the heights in aid of The Brun Bear Foundation on Saturday 26 August.

The Brun Bear Foundation is a Bromley-based charity that financially supports medical research into infant and childhood illnesses; animal welfare with particular emphasis on bears; and community projects in the London Boroughs of Bromley and Lewisham.

Joanne will be doing a tandem skydive from 12,000 feet (3,658 metre) which includes a freefall of 40 seconds! The jump will take place in August in the heart of Kent, also known as the Garden of England! On the way down Joanne will enjoy incredible views of Kent, the south coast of Essex and the northern coast of France.

"I am very happy to support The Brun Bear Foundation," says Joanne. "I have seen first-hand the good work that the charity does. It has a wonderful ethos and I have agreed that the money raised from the jump will be split equally between community projects, medical research and animal welfare."

Joanne can often be found training at Downham Health & Leisure Centre and hopes that its members as well as the wider community will support her in her undertaking.

Everyone who sponsors is rewarded with points that they can redeem against more than 60 categories of goods!
