Frequently Asked Questions

About The Simon Shades Scholarship

The Simon Shades Scholarship was established in the spring of 2019 to honour the life of Simon Shades, his generosity of spirit and legacy of contribution to the community.

The scholarship is an annual, merit based competition, which rewards ambitious school leavers (male and female) at London Borough of Bromley and London Borough of Lewisham schools or colleges with a background of, or potential for, civic involvement or community service.

The goal of the scholarship is to assist the winning candidate in making their dream of attending college or university a reality, with the award intended to help fund living expenses and/or tuition fees during study.

The scholarship is a one-time award of £1000. It is funded by The Brun Bear Foundation.

All school or college leavers in the London boroughs of Bromley and Lewisham who will be entering into fulltime further or higher education in 2019 are encouraged to apply.

The Trustees of The Brun Bear Foundation do not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, creed, gender, sexual orientation, disability or national/ethnic origin.
